Welcome to the new home of the Great Selby Bike Ride

Report on the 2022 Great Selby Bike Ride and plans for 2023

Months of preparation came to fruition on Sunday 22nd May, 2022 when the Great Selby Bike Ride took place again after a two year gap and a change of organiser.

Elmet Lions were pleased to welcome riders to Barlby High School where they had the option to ride a 25 mile or 45 mile route through the local countryside then return to enjoy hot food from Jorvik Grill or an ice cream from Livvy’s.

And the opinion of those involved?

All the cyclists enjoyed their ride and said they would be back again next year. Charity and community volunteers who had manned the marshalling points and drinks stops along the two routes were equally enthusiastic and volunteered again.

Jorvik Grill and Livvy’s ice Cream were impressed with the event’s atmosphere while Elmet Lions were best pleased that everything had gone to plan and are equally enthusiastic about the new future of this long-standing community cycle ride.

We will be posting a gallery of photos of many of the riders and declaring what profit the event generated for the four chosen charities – Martin House, British Heart Foundation, St Leonard’s Hospice and Macmillan Cancer Care.

Mark the 2023 date in your biking calendar – Sunday 21st May – and let’s all do it again only BIGGER.
